PRODUCT REVIEW - MISS JESSIE'S QUICK CURLS

O.k, you all know I am in the beginning of my natural hair journey (2 years), so I am still experimenting with what products work best for my hair. Well, I tried Miss Jessie's Quick Curls to see if it would cut down the time it takes me to rod or twist my hair. I tried the product and simply used a diffuser to dry my hair. The curls were there, but they were hard(thanks for the heads up Curvy Gurl) and very loose. Also, my hair seemed to be very stiff and weird looking on the ends(thanks to the relaxer that is still on some strands).

Needless to say, I think I will try this product at a later date after I have cut all of the relaxer off my ends. The entire top and back of my head is 100% relaxer free(yeah) and the curls were very nice in those areas. The problem is I relaxed my front because I was wearing a sew-in weave and my ends are still evidence of that. One more inch cut off and I will be free, but until then I will have to rod/roll the front.

Anyhoo, I feel this will be a great product for a curly fro, but you will definitely need some type of moisturizing cream to use along with it for softness.

Pros - Smells nice, very lightweight, great hold

Cons - Holds too well (made my hair hard)

What are you focusing on today? Are you focusing on your difficult situation, or on God's promises? You may have all kinds of problems coming at you. Maybe you're feeling discouraged as new problems and challenges have popped up in your life. Don't let it get you down. Don't let it take your focus off of God. He is working on your behalf in the supernatural, even when you can't see it. Keep your trust and your focus on His promises, not on your problems.
It's important that you keep your heart in an attitude of faith. Believe that God is for you. Believe His plans for you have not changed despite new problems or troubling circumstances. The more you focus on what God's doing, the more your faith will grow.
If it feels like you're facing impossible challenges, don't be afraid. God is on your side–nothing is impossible for Him. Stay focused on what God can do in your life. Remember, He's always in control. God knows the end from the beginning and He allows challenges in your life to cause you to trust Him more. As you put your faith in Him, you'll grow closer to God and you'll see your dreams come true!

FOR MY NATURAL CROWNED SISTAS.......

I know it seems like I have been slacking on blogging about my natural hair journey. Well I have not forgotten why I started this blog, it's just that my hair is maintaining and I have found a simple regimen (twist outs & updo w/headband) and there has not been anything new for me to talk about. Well, all of that will change! I have been really busy lately with work and school (both full-time) and my hair has been kept simple. Next week, I will be trying out some new products and some new hairstyle techniques. I will be sure to share with everyone. I have had time to post about fashion because it is the time of year when fashion is on my mind (change of seasons). I promise to keep a well-balanced mix on my site for everyone.

I also want to thank all of you who visit and comment on my site.

To Him Be The Glory!

I know I post a scripture every Monday, but I felt the desire to post this simple word of praise to my father! God is good all of the time and I just had to say that!

I have learned in my 41 years of living that the only way to have total peace is to know God. For years I thought I had all of the answers, but was I wrong!

I just want to share this thought with everyone.......

Whenever there is a need that is in your heart, if it is for you, he will deliver. You will not know how things worked out, but when you look back on the matter, you are in awe that it worked itself out. We did not work it out, he did! For this reason, I have learned to stop worrying about things and put them in God's hands. It's that easy! Now don't get me wrong, we do have to commit to being strong and faithful, get off our butts and apply ourselves, and we also have to move on faith and trust he is leading us in the right direction.

Once we realize that everything is for us if God feels it is for us, then we will be much more calm and peaceful within our daily lives. Always put him first and seek wisdom from his word and everything else will fall into place. Now I am not saying it will always be peaches and cream, but remember, if the struggle is hard it will make you a stronger person when he blesses you with what he brought you through. I am a firm believer of that principal!

My eyes are filled with tears of joy when I think of where he brought me from and how he spared me so many times in my younger, wilder days(yes, I had a few of those).

My site would not be right if I did not devote time to glorify his name and his awesomeness.

He is fashion and hair - he is everything!

Too often, it's easy to get stuck in a rut, doing the same thing the same way over and over every day. We should strive to learn and grow every single day because when you stop learning, you stop growing. When you stop growing, you stop living.
What are you doing to stretch yourself? What are you doing to improve your skills? Don't get trapped into thinking that "good enough" is good enough. You are created for more than just average. Today is a new day, and there are new heights for you to climb. Pursue what you love and keep developing that area of your life. Take a class or find a mentor that will help you live skillfully. As you do, you'll rise up higher and higher. You will stand before leaders and rulers, and you'll live the blessed life God has in store for you!

St. Louis Fashion Week!

It is Fashion Week here in St. Louis and the Lou's fashion world is all a buzz!

Fashion week is from October 12th - October 18th with a slew of fashion shows and parties to keep everyone busy and smiling all week long.

SHECKY'S GIRL NIGHT OUT - ST. LOUIS

The Shecky's Girl's Night Out event in St. Louis was a smash hit!

There was plenty of shopping and drinks to make a girl feel like she was in Wonderland.

Above are a few items that have made my "favorites" list for October.

If you don't know by now, I am obsessed with J. Crew, cardigans, and sassy boots.

I also love anything fashionable!

I may not purchase each item on my favorites list, but I like to share with you what I think is hot right now!

I feel it is great to add low end pieces and high end pieces together to come up with a perfect, polished look.

I actually own the True Religion Jeans and the M.A.C. Lipstick.

Even though the jeans were a little pricey, the look was totally worth it.

This picture does not do them justice. The emblem on the back is embellished with shiny rhinestone like detailing. Also, I have yet to see anyone else with them on.

I can put them on with a Forever 21 top and look totally "put together"!

I'm not saying it is smart to blow money on things just to be exclusive, but what they heck, all work and no play is no fun!

Also, we must all admit it does feel good to have on something everyone else thinks is hot.

Come on, let's be real!

Today's Scripture

As it is in Heaven

"Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven"(Matthew 6:10, NIV)
God longs to give you a glimpse of heaven while you are here on earth. He wants to show you His wonderful plan and bring it to pass in your life. Have you ever thought about how God's will is accomplished in heaven? In heaven, God's will is automatic. There are no opposing forces of darkness or anything that can come against His will. On earth, His will is activated in our lives first when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior; and then we must choose to come into agreement with His will on a daily basis in our thoughts, our words, and our actions. On earth, we have to stand against the forces of darkness. We have to refuse those negative, self-defeating thoughts. As you open your heart to the Word of God and invite His will to be done in your life, you are becoming one with the Father. Ephesians six tells us that we are empowered by our union with Him.
Today, declare God's Word over your life. Declare that His will be done in your life. As you stand strong in your union with Him, you will overcome opposition and see His will in your life…as it is in heaven!

"Heavenly Father, I humbly come to You today and invite Your will to be done in my life. I submit every area of my heart to You. Let everything I say and do bring glory to You. In Jesus Name. Amen."

Fashionable While Shopping!

I came across this great ensemble while looking on ShopStyle.com.

This is a fashionable, but comfortable way to take on a Saturday of shopping while still looking fabulous. Ladies, let's do away with the big t-shirts and the sweats while shopping. I know you want to be comfortable, but let's stay fashionable as well!

You can tweak this look to fit within your wardrobe design, but the main idea is to jazz it up a little while you are hitting the malls.

Today's Scripture

Put Your Faith into Action

"No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God"(Romans 4:20, AMP)
Do you know how powerful praise is? Praise is putting your faith into action. Just as putting your physical body into action makes it grow stronger, putting your faith into action through prayer and thanksgiving will cause it to grow strong, too!
I love what this verse says about Abraham: No unbelief made him waver regarding the promise of God. To waver actually means to go back and forth. It's a very unsteady posture. Spiritual wavering is when we go back and forth in believing the promises of God. Spiritual wavering shows up in our words and actions. When you speak contrary to God's promises, you are wavering and unsteady. Notice this verse didn't say that Abraham never had unbelief or doubting thoughts. It says that he didn't waiver–he didn't allow his words or actions to go against God no matter what he was thinking. He took captive every thought and stood strong through His praise and worship! See, praise makes you stable. It makes you strong. It's hard to be negative when you are singing a song of praise to Him.
Decide today to stand strong in worship. Put your faith into action with your words and watch what God will do on your behalf!

"Heavenly Father, today I choose to bless Your name. I thank You for life. I thank You for breath. I thank You for provision, healing, strength, and joy. I praise You for abundantly supplying all my needs so that I can be a blessing to others. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Miss Jessie's Quick Curls

I just purchased some Miss Jessie's Quick Curls and I can't wait to try it out on my hair.

I am hoping this will allow me to shorten the time it takes me to roller set my strands. I will try it this weekend and let you in on the results.
