Today's Scripture

This One Thing!

"…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead"
(Philippians 3:13, NLT)

Are you determined to forget the past? I know many people don't fully understand what that means. They wonder, "How can I forget something that's happened to me?" But one definition of the word forget is to disregard intentionally or to overlook. In other words, you have to choose to disregard your past so that it doesn't keep you from moving forward. That means the good and the bad. Sometimes our past victories keep us from rising higher as much as past failures. If we don't let go of the old, we'll never be able to embrace the new.

It doesn't matter what's happened in your history, it's time to forget what lies behind. Make the choice today to look forward. Trust that God has a better future in store for you. Trust that He's working behind the scenes on your behalf. As you forget what lies behind and press forward, you will see the abundant life the Lord has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father in heaven, I choose to forget the past today. I don't want anything to hold me back from the good future You have prepared for me. I choose forgiveness and ask that You help me, by Your Spirit, to press forward in every area of my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Product Review - MoroccanOil Oil Treatment

O.k., I did a review on the Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask and now the verdict is in on the Moroccanoil Oil Treatment.

I used it for a month as a hot oil treatment and as a leave in for my twist and braid outs. I really like the smell of this product, but I did not notice much difference in my hair after using this product versus my trusty (and cheaper) coconut or olive oil. Now I must say my hair felt really soft and moist after using it, but it feels that way after using coconut oil and olive oil. It is not as messy to apply as the other two because its consistency is a little bit thicker. Also, I did not have anyone saying I smelled like coconuts either. (I was in J.Crew shopping and a lady commented on how yummy I smelled, but like coconut)
Anyhoo, my verdict is this - I will stick with either coconut or olive oil because it is much cheaper than the Moroccanoil Oil Treatment (over $30) and the coconut and olive oil are all natural. Moroccanoil Oil Treatment is not made with pure Argan oil. It is made up of mostly silicones and while this will definitely tame frizz, it is not the best thing for natural hair on a regular basis.
Needless to say, after my bottle is empty, I will not be replacing this one.
As always, my opinion is my opinion and someone else may really like this product. I always believe you should try something for yourself and see how you like it. I'm just here to give you my insights on the "stuff" that's out there.
Chime in and tell me what you think if you have tried this product. I will definitely continue using the mask, but the oil is a bust.
Happy Healthy Hair!!!!!!

Today's Scripture

Faith

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"
(Hebrews 11:1, KJV))

Are you hungry for more of God's favor in your life today? Did you know your faith opens the door to His favor?
The scripture tells us that faith pleases God. It gives substance to the things we hope for and makes them tangible. We've all been given a measure of faith, but it's up to each of us to put it into action. Notice today's verse starts by saying, "Now faith." It's not "later" faith or "one day" faith. We have to have faith for today, right now.
Do you believe that God has blessings in store for you, right now? Do you believe He wants to pour out His favor upon you, today? When you activate your faith by declaring His promises, you open the door to His abundant favor in every area of your life.
We are calling this week the "Five Days of Favor." I encourage you to join with me in pressing forward into new levels of favor, faith and victory. I can think of no better way to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord than to feed our faith and commit to reaching new levels in Him!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for the gift of faith. I choose to believe Your Word which is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. Show me how to continue to grow in faith so I can be pleasing to You in every area of my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Product Review - Fit Flops

Check these out! Trust me when I say they really work! They work just like the Shape Ups and MBT Shoe, but they are thong flip flops. I have three pair and I have been wearing them since last year. You can get them from the website or through the Victoria's Secret catalog or website. My butt, thighs, and legs love them! Unlike regular flip flops, my legs never get tired when I am wearing them. They also come in a lot of different styles and colors. I just bought a pair of black ones and they came in the mail today.

I wish I could wear them to work!

Spa Water at Home - Cucumber Water

O.k. ladies, listen up. We all know we need more water in our system to promote healthy hair, skin, nails, and proper bodily functions. But for many, the thought of drinking bland water is not on the top of their list. Well, I was in Austin, TX all last week at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa and let me tell you, it was divine. I was there on business, but I did find time to take in the sights and the spa. I also purchased some funny looking shoes that look like toes, but I will blog about those on a later date. (Got to keep you coming back!)

Now back to water - I had this water at the spa while I was in the steam bath and it tasted great! I was filtered water, but instead of using lemons they used sliced cucumbers. It was refreshing and I was told it is better for your system. I have attached the simple recipe and I want you to try it and let me know what you think. Get yourself a mask, a robe, and a steamy bathroom and you can have the luxuries of a spa right at home. Don't forget the scented massage lotion and your man to make the setting complete!

Cucumber Water Recipe
In order for the water to really take on the cucumber juice, you need to prepare it the day before you are going to drink it. If you prepare the water at the last minute, cut the first cucumber in three or four pieces. Then, squeeze the cucumber pieces to release all the juice.
Ingredients:
• 1 cucumber, sliced and unpeeled + 9-10 cucumber slices for decoration
• 1 1/2 to 2 liters of water
• 3 mint sprigs + 2 mint sprigs for decoration (optional)
• Ice cubes
In a pitcher, mix the water, cucumber, and 3 mint sprigs. Let it rest on the fridge for 24 hours. Before serving, remove the cucumber slices used to flavor the water. Then stir with a spoon, add some ice cubes, 9 or 10 fresh cucumber slices and the remaining 2 mint sprigs. Enjoy this refreshing drink.

Healthy Drinking!

Today's Scripture

What Defines Your Future?

"You will also declare a thing, and it shall be established…"(Job 22:28, NKJ)
In the Old Testament there was an Israelite woman who was about to give birth. She had just heard that the Ark of the Covenant that housed God's presence had been stolen. She was so upset about it that she named her baby boy Ichabod, which means "the glory has departed." Notice what she did; she named her future by what was happening in her present. She could have just as easily named him "the glory will return," but she was so focused on the negative, so caught up in where she was at that moment that she defined her future by it.
Friend, don't ever name your future by your present day circumstances. You may have had some hard times in the past, but get that "Ichabod" spirit off of you. It may look like you're stuck in a rut and you don't really see how you could ever rise any higher, but don't speak defeat over your life. Instead, name your future: blessed, prosperous, successful, victorious, healthy, whole, strong, talented, creative, wise. Declare what God's Word says so that you can move forward in the destiny He has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for the good future that You have prepared for me. Today I choose to come into agreement with Your Word and declare Your blessing over my life. Keep me close to You as I surrender every area of my life to You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Product Review - MOROCCANOIL INTENSE HYDRATING MASK

For me, hydration is a must!
Let me introduce to you the Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask. I just have to say my hair loves this stuff. I use it as a weekly deep conditioning treatment and my hair holds moisture like never before. My curls are also very plump and hydrated after each use. It is pricey - $30, but it is worth it for me. I also get the same results from using coconut oil and olive oil(which is much cheaper) but I don't like the messy application or the oil running down my face. I love being natural, but I also love convenience.

I will do a review on the Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream and the Moroccanoil Hair Treatment after I have used them for at least a month.

Happy Hydrated Hair!

Today's Scripture

See His Goodness!

"I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living"(Psalm 27:13, NIV)
David was going through tough times when he made the declaration in today's verse. Things weren't going his way. But he said in effect, "I'm not worried. I'm not upset. I am confident I will see God's goodness." In other words, "This situation I'm in may be rough, but that's not going to steal my vision. That's not going to cause me to give up on my dreams. I am confident that this year, I will see God's favor in a new way."
That's what our attitude needs to be today because what you focus on is what you will see. No matter what the medical report says, no matter what your finances look like, no matter how bad that relationship may seem, be confident that you will see His goodness! He is the all-powerful, omniscient, Creator of the Universe, and He holds you in the palm of His hand. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Take hold of this truth by faith and focus on His goodness today. Allow His peace to settle in your heart and mind as you move forward in His blessing all the days of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for Your goodness in my life. I choose to focus on You today no matter what my circumstances may look like. Give me Your peace as I keep my mind stayed on You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
